Last night a small problem happened that amazingly I was able to fix myself, or so I think, without passing out.
When I was a little kid, I fell on my right knee one day, and a small wood splint got stuck in my knee. My aunt was not successful at getting it out. I remember crying out loud when she tried to get it out. The next thing I remember is that she gave up, and the wood splint stayed in there. (I kind of realize these days that she was not using the right tools to get it out.) It did not hurt – that is when my aunt left it alone. Well, the next day came, and I think I forgot all about it especially since it did not hurt. What happened next is that 10 years passed by without a hint about it.
Now 10-20 years later, I start to noticed this small fleshy knot like bump under my skin on my knee. I had no idea what it was. Over time, I noticed that it started to get larger. I did not know if it was cancerous or what. This problem did not occur anywhere else on me, and I was curious why this was occurring on my knee. At one point, I was able to recall the event that happened when I was a kid when I fell on my knee, and that wood splint got stuck in there. I immediately suspected this event as having something to do with this subcutaneous growth. I had no proof, it was just a strong feeling. The growth appears in the same spot where the wood splint got stuck, and no other knots like this occurred anywhere else. It just seemed likely related to the wood splint.

I look at my knee and I temporarily pass out from looking at a 2-3 inch suture on my knee. I had never seen myself like this before so I think that was the reason for the temporary shock. Well anyway, the growth on my knee is gone, my hand has 3 pins in it, and I got this 2-3 inch suture on my knee!
Please see previous reference post about my thumb…

I ask my doctor about the growth on my knee, and he said it looked like toothpaste. I had a hard time with this because I thought the growth was more bulbous or solid, and not goo-ish like toothpaste. More on this in a moment..
You are not going to believe this… So, after recovering from the small shock experience of looking at this 2-3 inch gash on my knee, I began feeling around. I noticed this tiny little pin prick like bump a little distance from the suture. I immediately wondered if this was a small bit of remaining growth. I was really wondering if my doctor did not get it all out! Now fast forward a year… I was correct! My doctor did not get it all out. I now have a new growth starting below the now healed suture.
Now fast forward 7 years. I am back to square one as if my doctor never operated on my knee! The growth now seems just as large as pre-operation or maybe even larger. There is only one big difference! It is pushing on the thin skin from the old suture.
Yes eventually it broke through in the shower where the heat and moisture softened the old thin suture up enough. I start to squeeze it all out. It does not hurt and there is no blood. I now see this toothpaste that my previous doctor mentioned! It is white. This is so weird. I have never experienced this before. I guess this is what happens when you start to get older.
I found it peculiar that there is no blood. It seems to me that my body has isolated this place from blood flow. In other words, it seems to be a contained area. I figure this is a bio-hazard, and it quickly gets washed down the drain. I think I get all of it out that I possibly can. The next morning, I get even more out. I hope this skin gets patched up without a blood clot. I figure I need to keep it dry until it heals. Maybe it will heal without any pressure “toothpaste” up against it.
